The ship's manifest for S.S. Lucania from Liverpool, showing a departure on March 23, 1901, and an arrival in New York harbor of March 30, 1901, showing the arrival of Karl Fritzhof Winberg in America. Two lines above is Lutheru Andre, who accompanied Karl to America and paid his passage (this is the same person as J.A. Andri, who accompanied Marie). Shows the relative he was to meet was his sister Marie LaBathe, of St. Paul, MN. (From www.ellisisland.org, search for Carl Winberg; ID of Lutherias Andren from Alice Robinson) Viewed: 133 times.

This is Lutherus Andre, the man who signed for both Marie and her brother Charles to enter America. He first came to America from Sweden in 1889. In 1892, he was working at the Forest Woodward farm in Cottage Grove. For both Marie and Charles, he travelled to Sweden, arranged their passage, and signed for them to enter the country. A letter from Charles Winberg indicates that immigrants without an escort or sufficient funds were sent back to their native countries. (Original: Alice Robinson) Viewed: 99 times.

A very young looking Bob Winberg with an unidentified family, around 1930. Viewed: 112 times.
|
This picture and the next one were taken at the same time, judging by Bob's clothes. One has "Two Bobs" on the back. The other has "Me and Carl Boyling, Aunty's step-son". These people would be Robert Olson, son of Bob's Aunt Mary (maiden name Mattson, married first to an Olson, then to a Bjorling), and Carl Bjorling, a son of her second husband by a previous marriage. Probably 1934. Bob pulled into Bremerton, WA on the USS Maryland that year, and the Bjorlings were living in Everett, WA in 1930. Viewed: 112 times.
