17 February 1925: This loan note was the basis for a claim against the estate of Francis Bundy by Julia Thomas (sister of Francis) and her heirs. The claim was settled by giving Julia's heirs half the farmland (which had a $7,000 mortgage on it) and the 612 Garden Street house. See receipt, 27 September 1932.

Phillips could not act as executor for some reason. This is probably because his estate was heavily leveraged by debt. He owned a half-interest in the farm, and two houses, neither of which was rented out. Thus, he seems to have wanted an executor who could act quickly in a business sense to sell of his assets and eliminate his debts.

It seems to have been filed by the Lake City Bank to show that the farm was not Francis Bundy's homestead. The affidavit makes clear that Francis and family were living in Red Wing and planning to move into the house at 612 Garden Street.
